In its daily update on the spread of COVID-19 in Illinois, the state Department of Health announced almost 24 hundred new cases from Tuesday to Wednesday. This includes 147 new deaths over the previous 24 hours. The closest to Starved Rock Country was a fatality in Grundy County.
So, the health department’s running total is 100,418 cases, and more than 4500 deaths, in 100 of Illinois’ 102 counties. One statistic authorities watch closely is the statewide seven-day rolling positivity rate, which is 14 percent from Monday of last week through this past Sunday. The lower that number goes, the better.
