It was inevitable but that doesn’t make it any less worrisome.
The first confirmed case of coronavirus has been announced in La Salle County. The victim is a teenage girl without a history of travel to an affected area and without a connection to another known case of COVID-19. She’s said to be recovering at home in isolation. Her name isn’t being released.
The teen is apparently a student at Seneca High School. A message on the school’s Facebook page said that they were notified by the La Salle County Health Department that one of their students tested positive. According to school officials, the health department has deemed that students and staff of Seneca are at low risk and there are no recommendations for additional measures to be taken by the district.
The student allegedly didn’t show any symptoms while at school.
