Not long after a semi crashed through the old Peru Antique Mall, another big rig came close to smashing through a Peru business.
Investigators say 37-year-old Jeremiah Spano of Marionette Park started losing control of his semi as it entered the eastbound Interstate 80 ramp to Route 251. He overcorrected as his two trailers started to swerve. The semi smashed through a guardrail and power pole before stopping against some trees in the Red Lobster parking lot. Spano and his passenger weren’t injured. He was ticketed though for improper lane usage.
Spano was hauling mixed merchandise. The crash happened Monday at around 10:30 in the morning.
