90-year old Charles “Chuck” Martin of Oglesby, formerly of La Salle, died in his home Friday, December 20.
A memorial mass will be Saturday December at 10:00 in St. Hyacinth Church. Burial will follow in St. Vincent's Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church Saturday from 9:00 until the time of the mass.
Charles “Chuck” Martin is survived by a son, Thomas and wife, Donna of La Salle; a daughter, Tami and husband, Robert Greenfield of Ottawa; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one step-great grandson; a brother, Junior Martin of Peoria; a sister, Carol and husband, Jerry Brady of Naperville and his significant other, Sherry Lau.
Charles Martin was born August 19, 1929 in La Salle to Anton and Francis Martin. He served in the Army in World War II and the Korean War. Martin was employed by the La Salle Police Department from 1952 to 1978. He held the rank of Lieutenant at the time of his retirement. Charles “Chuck” Martin was also the security officer for LP High School for 23 years.
