There was a major ruckus Thursday evening in La Salle.
An officer showed up to the area of 3rd and Gooding Streets to try and ramp down a disturbance. Investigators say eventually the officer found himself tussling with two men with another man trying to incite others around the scene to turn violent. After nearly a dozen officers rushed to the scene, the officer involved in the original tussle was checked out at Illinois Valley Community Hospital and three La Salle men spent the night in jail.
Twenty-year-old Ernest Durham and 21-year-old Jeremiah Johnson were both arrested for aggravated battery to a police officer. Twenty-two-year-old Kevin Jones is jailed for mob action. All three remained jailed as of this morning.
Jones was on probation after pleading guilty earlier this year to shooting at others in La Salle. The gunfire damaged the backside of the Beck’s gas station.
