The name of the woman killed in a weather-related wreck has been released.
According to the La Salle County Coroner, 55-year-old Lori Szafranski of Streator died in a two-vehicle crash on East 22nd Road northeast of Grand Ridge. She was in a pickup truck that was hit by a pickup truck driven by 25-year-old Ronald Soderstrom of Danville. Soderstrom was taken to OSF in Ottawa.
Investigators think Szafranski's truck started spinning on the ice when the collision happened just before 6:30 Wednesday morning. The crash remains under investigation.
The fatal wreck was many that happened as now fell Wednesday morning. Near Marseilles a car hit a snowplow while there was also a head-on collision south of Ottawa on Route 23. Several vehicles also slid off Route 71 in Putnam County between Mark and Granville.
