A Streator man stayed on the lam for thirty hours before being arrested Monday in Streator. The Sheriff’s Department says 34-year old Elijah Fortson was with his estranged wife, two friends and five children in her rural Streator residence late Saturday night. Larissa Fortson called the Sheriff’s office after Elijah threatened to kill himself and fired a pistol shot into the kitchen ceiling.
It was at this point, the two friends and five children left. Elijah took off and eluded La Salle County Sheriff’s deputies through Sunday until spotted leaving his mother’s Streator residence Monday. Fortson saw deputies and took off on foot, but was later arrested hiding in some weeds.
Fortson is charged with violation of Bail Bond, discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of a FOID card. He needs at least $3000 to bond out from the La Salle County Jail.
