Both humans and animals got out okay when their house caught fire in Streator.
Firefighters were called at around 5 Sunday evening for smoke and flames coming from the roof of a one-story home at 911 East 12th Street in Streator. Crews quickly noticed the fire was in the home’s attic and removed parts of the ceiling to fight the blaze. Firefighters got two dogs to run outside the home and join their owners while they put tarp down inside the house to protect belongings.
The cause of the fire is considered undetermined. Folks living at the house are getting help from the American Red Cross.
