The Illinois Department of Public Health this afternoon (Friday) announced more than 21 hundred (2,145) new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 32 new confirmed deaths statewide.

Today’s (Friday’s) numbers bring the state to more than 257 thousand (257,788) cases and more than 82 hundred (8,273) deaths since the start of the pandemic. The current statewide test-positivity rate is 3.9 percent.

As of last night, more than 16 hundred (1,619) people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 359 patients were in intensive care and 155 were on ventilators.
