The state says close to 5,900 more people are confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases, and almost 100 more Illinoisans have died, since Tuesday.
More than 3600 people are fighting the virus in Illinois hospitals. About 750 are in intensive care and almost 400 are on ventilators. The state also reported Wednesday that Illinois has received a bit more than 970 thousand vaccine doses, and that an average of about 25,400 are being administered each day.
La Salle County has lost a man in his 70s to the virus. The health department also says 90 more people have tested positive since Tuesday. The most heavily-represented groups in Wednesday's report are women in their 20s and 50s. Sixty-one more people have recovered.
Meanwhile, to the west, Bureau County has three new cases since Tuesday and Marshall County's had one.
