Starved Rock Lodge and Conference Center has donated more than three thousand dollars to breast cancer research.
The lodge raised the funds this fall to help find a cure for breast cancer, and split its support between the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, and the Illinois Valley Pink Ribbon Club affiliated with IVCH.
The funds largely came from the “Hike for a Cure” event held at Starved Rock Lodge and State Park on October 6. Participants made a donation and hiked to the top of Starved Rock in support of a cure. On the night before the hike, the lodge co-hosted a pre-party with Tito's Vodka in the Back Door Lounge. Both of these events included raffle prizes and a silent auction.
Staff got in on the fun, too. Throughout October, dress codes were relaxed a bit for every modest donation employees made to the “Jeans for a Cause” program.
Lodge CEO Amy Trimble thanked everyone who made the fundraisers possible. Mark your calendars: The next “Hike for a Cure” is set for next October fourth.
