80-year old Roman “Romie” Rimmele of Peru, formerly of La Salle, died November 1 in his residence.

Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A private memorial mass will be held in St. Hyacinth Church in LaSalle at a later date. Reverend Paul Carlson, pastor of La Salle Catholic Parishes will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Hyacinth Cemetery with military rites conducted by the La Salle/Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; two sons, Kurt and wife, Tracy of Peru and Doug and wife, Marcie of Indianapolis; a daughter, Diane Lane of Peru; six grandchildren; a sister, Jeanette West of Louisiana and nieces and nephews. 

Romie was born in St. Mary's Hospital in La Salle on November 16 to Leroy and Elizabeth Rimmele. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was a barber in LaSalle for 50 years. Romie served a term as La Salle 2nd ward alderman followed by 16 years as City Treasurer.
