Interstate 80

Men from Peru and Chicago died in a crash early Saturday near the Bureau County line. Names are being withheld by State Police pending notification of the next of kin.

District 17 State Police say a 27-year old Chicago man was westbound on I-80 near Annawan. For an unknown reason, his car crossed the median, into eastbound traffic and struck the Peru man's car head-on. Both came to rest in the eastbound lanes. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

A third vehicle driven by a 42-year old Justice man could not stop in time and striking both units. He was not injured.
