In an unusual move, the Peru City Council met Sunday morning to address issues tied to the coronavirus outbreak.
A key topic was the establishment of an emergency relief fund. Peru City Clerk Dave Bartley tells WLPO that a resident prompted the fund’s creation by reaching out to the city with a significant donation for those in need during the outbreak.
Bartley says the city welcomes donations in several forms, including funds, services or hard goods. From there, the donations go to the appropriate local charitable organizations for distribution to those who need it most.
