Catholic School students across Starved Rock Country have been told to stay home next week.
Bishop Daniel Jenky has ordered all 42 schools within the Diocese of Peoria to close March 16th thru the 20th. Schools will be cleaned and disinfected while the students are absent. The directive says principals and teachers will be at schools Monday and Tuesday, and have a trial e-learning day with students on Wednesday. Teachers and students will then use Thursday and Friday of next week to evaluate what happened. Catholic school students are being asked to take their books home this Friday to prepare for online learning.
The days out of class next week won’t have to be made up at the end of the school year.
