Damage from Saturday night's storms had 165 Ameren personnel across Central Illinois Sunday. Ameren's Stacey Shangraw said repairmen removed trees and placed new utility poles from Peoria to Galesburg, the Quad Cities and east to Ottawa. Work was slow in several places as forestry crews took out fallen trees.
Shangraw said downed trees cut power to 2000 residents in Ameren's sizeable La Salle SERVICE AREA (not the city) Saturday night. Most got their power in quickly then Sunday morning, another outage developed.
Lacon was hardest hit with over 1100 residents in the dark Saturday night. The National Weather Service says strong winds broke four inch tree limbs in Van Orin and six inch limbs in Mendota. Rainfall of close to two inches fell just west of Ottawa and near Marseilles.
