A father and son from Oglesby are charged with working together to steel thousands of dollars worth of copper.
Twenty-two-year-old Justin Frederick is charged with felony theft while his 46-year-old father Dennis is facing a misdemeanor theft count. Investigators in La Salle say while Justin Frederick was employed by Buckman Iron and Metal in November, he stole more than 3,000 pounds of copper valued at nearly $10,000. The pair then sold the copper at Cimco Recycling in Ottawa.
After interviews and checking surveillance video, officers arrested the Fredericks for the theft. They have since reimbursed the money but still have court dates January 23rd.
