    Almost 200 gathered to “Back the Blue” on Second street in La Salle Saturday. There was no concern and no sound from 30 Black Lives Matter protestors one block to the north. Attendees at Back the Blue rally came dressed in patriotic colors, waved flags and proudly stated support for the police.

   The National Weather Service has three Starved Rock counties under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 11pm. They are Bureau, Putnam and Marshall. La Salle County is not under a watch at this time. The watch includes 15 counties as far north as Carroll and has far south as Peoria counties.

     The state had a most distressing number in Thursday's COVID-19 update. Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1018 new COVID-19 cases including 20 additional deaths. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rating for the period ending July 8 is at 2.6% - the same as Wednesday.

    A Jackson, Missouri man – wanted on four felonies – was arrested in Seneca Wednesday afternoon. The La Salle County Sheriff's office and U.S. Marshalls arrested 33-year old Rickey Gamble in the 300 block of East street in Seneca.
