If you or a loved one ends up at a hospital in the Illinois Valley, you’re in good hands.
The patient safety watchdog called “Leapfrog Group” has put out its fall safety grades for over 100 hospitals statewide. Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru and OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa received an “A” safety grade while St Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley received a spring grade of “B”. This report represents a big jump for IVCH since their spring safety grade was a “C”.
All three hospitals did well when it came to responsiveness of staff. IVCH graded well with patient falls while St. Margaret’s and OSF St. Elizabeth need to work on that issue. St. Elizabeth was also graded poorly with hand washing while IVCH and St. Margaret’s did well with communications with doctors and nurses.
Hospitals in Mendota and Princeton weren’t part of the safety study. You can see the grades for yourself by clicking here
