Now out of prison, Chester Weger is fighting to clear his name.
The convicted murderer from Oglesby wants evidence that was used in his 1960 trial re-examined. A lawyer on his behalf appeared in front of La Salle County Judge Michael Jansz Monday who put off the motion to reconsider hearing until May 3rd. A special prosecutor from Will County was appointed to be part of Weger's case.
Weger walked out of prison last February after being sentenced to life in prison in 1960 for murdering a suburban woman at Starved Rock State Park. He confessed to killing two other women at the park. Weger has since recanted the confession.
Weger has not been in the courtroom during recent hearings involving his case.
