It didn’t snow a lot but it was enough to make driving tricky.
Between 7 and 9:30 Wednesday morning, there were several spinouts and some rollover wrecks caused by wintry weather across Starved Rock Country. A little before 8:30, an ambulance was called to northbound Interstate 39 just north of Interstate 80 for a semi "split in half." At that same time Mendota and Troy Grove firefighters were handling a vehicle that rolled into the median south of the Troy Grove Interstate 39 exit. Earlier in the morning police rushed to the scene of a two-vehicle accident on the southbound side of the bridge over Interstate 39 near La Salle after 7 o’clock. Mendota firefighters were called a little after 7 this morning for a rollover causing lane blockage on northbound Interstate 39. At about the same time first responders were called to a two-vehicle crash on Route 89 south of Spring Valley. Several spin outs were also reported throughout PutnamCounty.
Only minor injuries were reported in some of the wrecks. There were also no prolonged lane closures.
