A lot has been made of the Illinois law that requires you to move over if there’s an emergency vehicle on the shoulder. Unfortunately the message isn’t getting through to everyone.
A post on the Mendota Fire Department Facebook page says while their members were out handling a crash on Interstate 39 Sunday along with the state police, a car zoomed passed the first responders going 87 miles an hour on the slick interstate while taking a video. A trooper tracked the driver down and wrote a ticket.
The message from Mendota firefighters ended by saying, “We all want to go home when the call is done.”
