A 100 foot fall at Starved Rock State Park has taken a man’s life.
Just before 3 o’clock Monday afternoon, first responders were called about a man who went down near Wildcat Canyon. Conservation Police Sgt. Phil Wire says the 26-year-old climbed over the railing at an overlook and fell 100 feet. While he was found conscious and taken across the river by Ottawa River Rescue into an awaiting ambulance, the man died while in a Life Flight helicopter prior to it taking off. His name and hometown haven’t been released.
Conservation Police are investigating whether the fall was intentional and not an accident.
