There won’t be a resolution this year to one of the most talked about court cases of 2019.
Proceedings have been continued to January for 43-year-old Michael Stuart. He was in court Friday morning and all sides agreed to have another status hearing January 24th. Stuart is charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a victim over 60 years old. He’s also charged with aggravated battery in a public place.
His arrest came after a video went viral on social media. The video shows a man shouting at an elderly couple on a Peru street. It’s hard to see at times, but it appears that the younger man shoves the elderly man and woman. Peru Police Chief Doug Bernabei says the episode was a result of an ongoing neighbor dispute.
Stuart remains out of jail after coming up with $3,000 bond.
