For almost three years, you've been hearing about a locks being shutdown for repairs? The time has arrived at five sites up and down the Illinois River. . This Wednesday, the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers from Rock Island will close sites including Marseilles and Starved Rock for needed repairs and maintenance.
Closures will be simultaneous to limit impact to navigation. Repairs include new miter gates and concrete repair and replacement. Navigation will continue between these work sites, but no vessels will be able to pass through these locks. Repairs are scheduled to last through late October.
