Oglesby native and Broadway performer Ron Sharpe started his career at LP High School, under the direction of local legend Robert Manahan. Sharpe has recently worked with his mentor to arrange a return to the Illinois Valley for a concert to benefit Stage 212 in LaSalle.
Sharpe and his family have been performing around the globe in a fast-paced medley musical of favorite songs, and they’ll stage it at LP High School’s recently renovated Matthiessen Auditorium on Saturday at 7:30. Manahan says to expect a surprise or two. While he won’t share publicly what those might be, Manahan does say that audiences can expect an entertaining, fast-moving, family-friendly show.
Manahan also says the performers are treating this show as they’d treat a Broadway production. They’re aiming for perfection. Of course, Manahan says, nothing will satisfy a Broadway star.
The curtain goes up on “Married to Broadway” with the Sharpe Family Singers this Saturday at 7:30 at LP. You can get tickets at Stage212.org or at the door.
