The investigation into a data breach at Illinois Valley Community College now includes the FBI and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.
Those two law enforcement agencies were made aware Monday of the breach that was first noticed last Friday. A consulting firm out of Michigan has been hired by IVCC to unlock the college’s servers. A forensic audit and restoration of the college’s computer network is expected to be done early next week if not sooner.
Steps are being taken to prevent a data breach from happening again. IVCC officials say they’re not aware of any personal information of students or staff being disseminated because of the breach.
