A shooting is under investigation in Peru.
Peru Police Chief Doug Bernabei says overnight his department was called about a shooting on the west side of town at the Tou-Rest Motel. The chief says a 20-year-old woman was shot and was driven to Illinois Valley Community Hospital by a private vehicle. The injuries aren’t considered to be life-threatening.
Bernabei says so far they aren’t getting a lot of cooperation from folks who were around the shooting when it happened. He says the incident happened at a gathering with several people attending. No arrests have been made.
