The breakout numbers keep going up, here in Starved Rock Country and across Illinois as a whole.
The LaSalle County Health Department Monday afternoon confirmed two additional COVID-19 cases in LaSalle County. Both cases are males in their 40s. Both men are in isolation. This brings the total number of LaSalle County positives to 13. Federal privacy restrictions don’t allow the release of any more information on them.
Just a few minutes later, state officials reported that Illinois now has 12,262 positive COVID-19 cases, an increase of 1,006 since Sunday afternoon. 307 Illinoisans have died. That’s an increase of 33 since yesterday.
Tomorrow (Tuesday) is supposed to be the warmest day of the year around the state. Dr. Ngozi Ezike, the Director of the Illinois Department of Public Health, cautioned everyone to stay inside tomorrow, despite the warm weather.
As of Monday afternoon, 69,942 Illinoisans had been tested, with 10,959 taking place since Sunday afternoon.
