A solar farm is on its way to DePue.
Ameresco, Inc. says it will develop a 27 megawatt solar farm in DePue. It will be the largest solar farm in Bureau County according to a release by the renewable energy company.
The farm will include more than 71,000 solar panels. Construction should start next summer and be done later in the year. The village will collect permitting fees as well as $10,000 annually to help offset increased energy costs. The solar farm also will pump in new property tax revenue to Bureau County.
DePue Village President Eric Bryant said in a written statement, “The Village of DePue is very happy to be the home of the Ameresco Solar project and is looking forward to working with them to make it a reality.”
