Lt. Mike Smudzinski

The next police chief in La Salle is coming from in house.

The La Salle City Council Monday night announced that Detective Lieutenant Mike Smudzinski will replace retiring Chief Rob Uranich.  Smudzinski has been with the La Salle P.D. since 1997 starting as a patrolman.  He eventually moved up to a sergeant role before becoming a lieutenant.  Smudzinski started his law enforcement career in Oglesby 25 years ago.

La Salle Mayor Jeff Grove says Uranich recommended Smudzinski and that the new chief brings leadership abilities.   The change in leadership officially happens July 16th
