Another La Salle County-an has died of the coronavirus. The county's health department says she was in her 90s. The county now has lost 59 people to the virus. More than 21 hundred people have tested positive for COVID-19 in La Salle County as of today (Friday), with 28 new cases reported. The newest positives range from a boy and a girl under 13 to a woman in her 80s. Thirty more people have recovered in La Salle County, for a running total of more than 15 hundred.
The State of Illinois today is reporting the highest one-day total of COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic, with 4,554. Thirty-eight more people have died, as well. The state points out today that a higher number was reported on September 4, but that higher number was actually a combination of several days' cases due to data-processing delays around Labor Day. To date across the state, more than 336 thousand cases have been reported, as have more than 91 hundred deaths. More than 2,000 people were in Illinois hospitals last night with COVID-19. More than 400 were in ICUs and more than 150 were on ventilators.
