Kenneth John Bernabei, 74, of Dalzell, died at his home surrounded by his family on January 2. A memorial visitation for Ken will be held from 3:00 until 6:00 Thursday at the Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley.
Ken was born on November 10, 1945 in Spring Valley to Aldo and Rose (Potthoff) Bernabei. He married Susan Byrne on April 24, 1965. Sue preceded him in death in 2017.
Ken was a graduate of Hall High School, Class of 1964. Ken was a very hard worker and he held many jobs in his time, including with Blakley Motorcycle Shop. He also was a union bricklayer, and owned and operated his own trucking and farming business, KB Trucking and Farms, which he operated until his passing.
He is survived by his daughters, Lori (Thomas) Bender of Dalzell and Becky (Jack) Hoscheid of Cherry; his nephew, Eric (Amanda) Bernabei; his grandchildren, Ashley Guisti of Dalzell, Matthew (Laura) Guisti of Dalzell, Kara (Caleb) Taylor of Mt. Sterling, John (Abbey) Bender of Dalzell, Karly (Lucas) Full of Sublette, Emily (Jared) Hoscheid of Cherry, and Abby Hoscheid of Cherry; his great grandchildren, Analia Rose, Emery Lyn, Brynlee Ann, Myah Jo, Willa Sue, Carsyn, Caydence, and Kendalyn “Kenny Sue”; two brothers, Dale Bernabei of Peru and Gerald Bernabei of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Randy and Don Bernabei.
