The spot where Dairy Queen once operated in Peru is getting new life.
Peru City Engineer Eric Carls says the city recently approved a build out for two tenants at the northwest corner of Route 251 and 38th Street. He says one tenant is Jimmy Johns, meaning they will eventually vacate their current location just east of the old DQ. Carls says the second business is yet to be determined.
The busy corner has featured a boarded up Dairy Queen ever since it caught fire last May. An electrical issue got the blame for the fire.
