It’s a start at least.
Both the Fox River in Dayton and Vermilion River near Leonore fell back below their flood stages early Friday afternoon. There is still a lot of work to do for the Illinois River to fall back below its banks. At last check in La Salle the river was still 11 feet above flood stage. It’s falling about a foot per day. In Utica the Illinois River has fallen 3 feet since cresting Tuesday afternoon. Neither location is expected to see the river get back below flood stage until the end of the month.
In Ottawa the Illinois River has fallen 5 feet since a Tuesday crest. It’s expected to fall back below flood stage by Sunday. Meanwhile in Henry the river is projected to crest early Friday at its 5th-highest level on record.
