Plenty of rain fell but river crest projections for Starved Rock Country have been lowered slightly.
The National Weather Service expects the Illinois River at La Salle-Peru crest Monday night about six feet above flood stage, down nearly three feet from an initial projection. In Utica, the Illinois River is projected to crest about 8 feet above its flood stage Monday night, down a couple feet from what was predicted before the rain arrived.
In Ottawa, the Fox River is projected to climb slightly over flood stage by Sunday evening. Meanwhile the Vermilion River near Leonore is rising fast, expected to crest at about 5 feet above flood stage by Monday morning.
