One more extension of a stay-at-home order in Illinois will likely put an end to spring high school sports.

IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson says he remains optimistic that a May 1st return to school can lead to a shortened spring sports season with state tournaments happening in June.  He is okay with allowing spring sports to play into late June but competing into July is not being considered right now.

While May 1st is a target date for sports, Anderson says any further postponements of classes being in session will “almost certainly result in the cancellation of all remaining IHSA sports and activities this school year.”
