Its official, spring high school sports aren’t happening in Illinois.
The Illinois High School Association Board of Directors met Tuesday and canceled all spring sports regular seasons and state tournaments. In announcing the news, IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson said “As disappointing as it may be for students, it is the right decision for their health and safety, as well as for the health and safety of the general public, as we cope with this unprecedented pandemic.”
The decision comes after the state said schools will stick to e-learning the rest of the semester. Sports impacted by the cancellation include baseball, softball, track and field, girls’ soccer, boys’ tennis and bass fishing.
