It may be weeks still before we know exactly what happened in a crash that claimed the life of a teenage girl.
Ottawa Police Captain Dave Gualandri says an accident reconstructionist has taken the lead in the fatal crash investigation involving 16-year-old Emily Greenberg of Ottawa. The reconstructionist’s report isn’t done yet and it could take some time before its ready. Gualandri is willing to say Greenberg wasn’t the victim of a hit and run. He says they have interviewed witnesses to the crash.
The teen was hit while south of the Veteran’s Bridge over the Illinois River in Ottawa Friday morning. She was a pedestrian in the crash and was flown to OSF in Peoria where she was later pronounced dead. A public visitation is planned Friday from 3 until 7 at the Ottawa High School Auditorium.
