Who would’ve thought that pot would ever be grown legally on the campus of Illinois Valley Community College?
This will become a reality with the creation of a cannabis production certificate program starting with the fall semester. A small section of IVCC’s farmland will be dedicated to growing cannabis so students can get hands-on experience. The class will also cover soil fertility, pest management and an internship.
IVCC President Jerry Corcoran says industry representatives expressed a need for people with basic knowledge of the cannabis plant and understanding of producing and processing it.
