A Glen Ellyn teen is hurting after falling Sunday at Starved Rock State Park.
Conservation Police Sgt. Phil Wire said the 16 year old climbed over the railing in Sac Canyon and slipped on some ice. He fell several feet, but hit a ledge on the way down. Wire said that may have saved his life.
The young man was taken to IVCH with a broken foot, leg and ankle. There are no trails at the bottom of Sac Canyon.
Paramedics had to carry the injured teen up a creek bank and through the woods to an ambulance. A second teen was also past the railing, but did not fall. They were part of a group visiting the park.
