If you’ve been following the story of an abrupt resignation by Bureau County’s former public defender, there is a new twist.
A charge was filed in Bureau County Court Friday against 64-year-old Michael Henneberry of Walnut. He’s accused of the misdemeanor crime of unlawful delivery of alcohol to a minor. Court records don’t say what department investigated the case. Henneberry is due in court March 3rd. Former La Salle County State’s Attorney Brian Towne has been assigned the case as a special prosecutor.
Henneberry meanwhile turned in a one-sentence resignation letter last Monday that gave no reason for stepping away. Raymond Nolasco is now the acting public defender in Bureau County.
