Italian-based confectionery giant Ferrero is going to build its first chocolate factory in the U.S. And, not all that far from Starved Rock Country. It will be an add-on to their current Bloomington facility. Construction starts next year and it will add another 50 jobs to the current workforce of 383. Raisinets, 100 Grand, Goobers and other Ferrero products will be made there.
The Pantagraph reported the announcement late Thursday. Ferrero acquired the factory when they bought Nestle's U.S. Business for $2.8 billion in 2018. Ferrero also makes Tic Tac and Nutella brands.
