Facebook Announced Tuesday morning that it plans to put an 800-million-dollar data center in DeKalb.
The company says the tech center will be among the most advanced, energy- and water-efficient data center facilities in the world, supporting about a hundred operational jobs and hundreds of construction jobs.
In a joint statement, the company says it chose DeKalb for a number of “compelling reasons." These include access to renewable energy, a strong talent pool, higher-education institutions, community partners and a strong infrastructure.
For its part, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity credited Governor JB Pritzker’s leadership in landing this facility and other businesses it says continue to make Illinois a destination.
