Construction season strikes again.
Expect delays on Route 251 in Peru for a while, as IDOT does micro-surfacing work starting tomorrow (Thursday).
It’s a two-phase project. First comes the work on the northern stretch of the highway through Peru, as work is done between Midtown Road and I-80. This will impact all the intersections in that area at different times, and should take a month to 6 weeks to finish.
Phase two will fix up the rest of 251 in Peru, running between Midtown Road and the Illinois River bridge. This phase should take about a month, and it will start once the 251 slope-stabilization project is done.
During the project, lanes in both directions will be closed. IDOT will keep one lane open in each direction.
