The coronavirus has hit the Sheridan Correctional Center.
The Illinois Department of Public Health says a contractual worker at the prison tested positive for COVID-19. The prison has now been put on a 14-day lockdown. On a positive note, health officials consider the staff and inmates at the Sheridan prison to be at low to medium risk for potential exposure.
Staying behind bars, two corrections officers and an inmate have also tested positive at the Stateville Correctional Center. That prison in Crest Hill is also on a 14-day lockdown.
