Remember businesses closing up early, even boarding up their windows back in June due to fears of rioting and looting? Those businesses can now get help for potential loss of business.
Low-interest loans are available to more than 60 counties including La Salle, Bureau and Putnam to recover from civil unrest. While no reported damage was done to any businesses in Starved Rock Country due to civil unrest this summer, qualifying businesses can apply for what’s being called an Economic Injury Disaster Loan to be used on things like payroll and operation costs.
Businesses and private non-profits can borrow up to $2 million. Loan amounts are based on the actual “economic injury” of the business and its financial needs, regardless of whether the business suffered any property damage.
