A man with a lengthy criminal history allegedly led police on a chase Tuesday morning in the Illinois Valley.
A deputy in Putnam County says he attempted to pull over a Chevy pickup for speeding and following too closely. Other officers joined in the pursuit which ended in Bureau. The driver taken into custody was 50-year-old Billy Ray Tillotson who lives in Bureau. During the pursuit, officers think Tillotson threw heroin out of his moving truck.
He has been charged with fleeing or attempting to elude an officer along with driving with a revoked license. Tillotson has a prior theft conviction in Putnam County along with possession of pot, disorderly conduct, and battery convictions in Bureau County.
Additional charges are possible with his latest run in with the police.
