Hope Week was a bit different this year because of the pandemic but the many volunteers who were part of it still made a big difference.
Group projects and individual acts of kindness last week across Starved Rock Country added up to 1,065 community service hours. Organizers say Hope Week volunteers over a seven-day period donated more than $33,000 to communities. Improvements included roofing, landscaping and cleaning. Hope Week volunteers also drew positive messages on sidewalks and nursing home windows.
The charity was started five years ago by members of the Ax Church in La Salle.
