With the coronavirus pandemic not going away, a murder trial continues to be put on hold in La Salle County.
The next status hearing for 24-year-old Kenneth Herbst of La Salle has been set for Friday, June 26th. He was in court Friday for a brief time as lawyers and the judge agreed to delay proceedings. Herbst has waived his right to a speedy trial.
He is accused of holding his baby boy’s face into a pillow, causing the two-month-old to die, last March. He is locked up in LaSalle County Jail, needing 200 thousand dollars to bond out.
